How to remember the 3 times table
- 1
Count in threes: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36.
- 2
The digits of every answer add up to a multiple of 3: 24 → 2 + 4 = 6, 27 → 2 + 7 = 9. A handy way to check yourself.
- 3
3 × n is 2 × n plus one more n: 3 × 7 = 14 + 7 = 21.
- 4
Order doesn’t matter: 3 × 6 = 6 × 3 = 18. Learn a fact once and you know two — and you already know part of this table from the others.
- 5
Division is multiplication backwards: 18 ÷ 3 = 6, because 3 × 6 = 18. Learn to multiply and division comes free.
