How to remember the 11 times table

  1. 1

    Up to 9, just repeat the digit: 11 × 4 = 44, 11 × 7 = 77.

  2. 2

    After that, split it: 11 × n = 10 × n + n. 11 × 11 = 110 + 11 = 121.

  3. 3

    A trick for two-digit numbers: pull the digits apart and put their sum in the middle. 11 × 12 → 1 (1 + 2) 2 = 132.

  4. 4

    Order doesn’t matter: 11 × 8 = 8 × 11 = 88. Learn a fact once and you know two — and you already know part of this table from the others.

  5. 5

    Division is multiplication backwards: 88 ÷ 11 = 8, because 11 × 8 = 88. Learn to multiply and division comes free.
