How to remember the 10 times table
- 1
Just add a zero: 10 × 7 = 70.
- 2
Dividing by 10 means taking the zero away: 70 ÷ 10 = 7.
- 3
The 10s help with other tables: 9 × n = 10 × n − n, and 5 × n is half of 10 × n.
- 4
Order doesn’t matter: 10 × 8 = 8 × 10 = 80. Learn a fact once and you know two — and you already know part of this table from the others.
- 5
Division is multiplication backwards: 80 ÷ 10 = 8, because 10 × 8 = 80. Learn to multiply and division comes free.
