How to remember the 12 times table
- 1
12 × n = 10 × n + 2 × n: 12 × 7 = 70 + 14 = 84.
- 2
The 12 times table is the 6 times table doubled: 6 × 7 = 42, so 12 × 7 = 84.
- 3
A dozen is 12, so 12 × 3 = 36 is three dozen eggs. Every answer is even, and the last digits loop: 2, 4, 6, 8, 0.
- 4
Order doesn’t matter: 12 × 8 = 8 × 12 = 96. Learn a fact once and you know two — and you already know part of this table from the others.
- 5
Division is multiplication backwards: 96 ÷ 12 = 8, because 12 × 8 = 96. Learn to multiply and division comes free.
